It’s impossible to please everyone. I started using Opera a while ago but gave up after the novelty wears off. I sometimes check Safari and Opera for errors, but rarely bother fixing them if I find any.
There is no way you can cover all the options out there. And if you use any specialty apps then you should be prepared to adjust a little to meet the norm at times.
If I was using Opera not optimizing for that browser would be annoying as it would affect me personally… on the other hand making big deal out of it and crying would be childish and silly.
I agree completely. I don’t understand why people love to hate: Microsoft, Google, Internet Explorer (but Firefox is awesome, so it has succeeded). All of these #1 players didn’t start that way, so there is no need to hate them…go with the flow.
Optimize for Opera? There’s almost no difference between it and Safari and Firefox. Sure, Opera has many more bugs, but it usually just crashes instead of displaying page content incorrectly. The only difference I’ve found with Opera is tags in the DOM will be in upper case letters.
I’m a bit of a new blogger, so please excuse me if this is a dumb question: other than bookmarking your site with Ask.com, are there special things needed for SEO for Ask.com?

From what I’ve heard, when it all boils down to it, Search Engine Optimization is really Google Optimization (GO?) I may have used Ask a grand total of 1 and a half times in my life…from what I can tell, Google pretty much rules, and I don’t know if there’s any real close seconds.
I must admit I’m struggling to see the point of optimising for ASK - not only is it a tiny market share, it’s also a dodgy search engine in terms of the page layout. All I get (above-the-break) are Sponsored Listings. To find anything organic I’ve got to scroll down. Very dodgy indeed if you ask me!

I’m about to redesign from the ground up a new site. I’ve been putting it off but with new browsers and lets not forget IE for their overzealous security default settings… @#$%^&*
I just install IE8 beta but still setting something for the better use.

You can’t please everybody at all times. Plus, you control your own domain, which means you only accept what is in your own interest. I hope this makes sense to you.

Yikes and I get annoyed when my clients refuse to upgrade to IE 7 or Firefox! I think I would go into uncontrollable laughter if they mentioned Opera or Linux.
As everyone said here it’s impossible to please everyone, so for I’m using Firefox and i think it’s the best.

while i enjoyed using opera for a while, i can understand why companies and sites might not optimize for it. time, energy and manpower are limited, after all, so it can make sense to channel it to those pieces of software which have a lion’s share of the market.
